RAPID COLIFORM AND E. COLI TESTS AWARDED AOAC-RI PERFORMANCE TESTED METHOD VALIDATION

July 22, 2013 - Camarillo, CA - Two rapid diagnostic tests from Hygiena for the detection of Coliform and E. coli have received Performance Tested Method Validation (Certification Number 071302) from the AOAC Research Institute. MicroSnap Coliform and E. coli swab tests detect down to 1-10 organisms in 8 hours or less. MicroSnap delivers presence/absence results in 8 hours and/or enumeration results in 6 hours, making it the fastest microorganism test for Coliform and E. coli available today.

Processors can now collect samples at the beginning of a typical 8-hour shift and know results before the end of the day. MicroSnap Coliform and E. coli are flexible tests that may be used for product and/or environmental samples. Knowing results on both product and environmental samples by the end of the shift allows employees responsible for food safety and quality to be more reactive to contamination and feel more confident about the quality and safety of the food being processed.

MicroSnap is a two-device test platform consisting of an enrichment device and detection device. MicroSnap test devices are measured with Hygiena's EnSURE monitoring system, a luminometer also capable of measuring adenosine triphosphate (ATP), Total Viable Count (TVC), alkaline phosphatase (ALP), and acid phosphatase (ACP) swab tests.

MicroSnap Coliform and E. coli complement Hygiena's portfolio of rapid food safety testing devices and sample collection products. Other products from Hygiena include the world's best selling SystemSURE Plus ATP monitoring system and UltraSnap ATP test devices. To enable processors to validate MicroSnap in their own facility, Scigiene offers MicroSnap Starter Kits. Contact Scigiene at 416-261-4865 or inquiries@scigiene.com for more details.
