Contam Swab - E.coli/coliform is a microbiological test with chromogenic culture medium for the detection of Escherichia coli and other coliform directly from surfaces. The product consists of a sterile swab with selective culture media and a sterile tear pouch.

Each package contains:

• 30 sealed pouches (swab + culture medium)
• 1 instruction sheet

TEST PROCEDURE:

1.    Take the sterile swab contained in the pouch.

2.    Moisten the tip of the swab by immersing it in a tube containing sterile culture medium.

3.    Press/rotate the tip of the swab against the wall of the tube to remove excess liquid.

4.    Swab the surface (10cm x 10cm) horizontally and vertically.

5.    Insert the swab in the tube containing the culture medium.

6.    Cap the tube and record date and the sampling point.

7.    Incubate at 37°C for 18-24 hours.

RESULTS INTERPRETATION:

Watch for the color change of the medium, the emission of blue fluorescence under UV lamp and interpret the results as shown in the table.

STORAGE:

2-8°C away from light, until the expiry date on the label. However, our stability studies have shown that the transport at 18-25°C for 4 days, or at 35-39°C for 48 hours, does not alter in any way the performance of the product. Eliminate if signs of deterioration or contamination are evident.
